The recognition of Silicon Valley as a global center of excellence was, that semiconductors were the dominant companies in the valley. While a large number and variety of semiconductors are reduced after 70 years, the region is still of the home of innovative semiconductor and electronic design. While there has been a high profile discussions on the state of digital circuits, analog deign is still a big part of the design community. The group of designers known as the Analog Aficionados holds an annual dinner in the valley each year where designers who work on power supply control, RF, data converters, amplifiers, video and sensor chips, motion and motor control, and most products that eventually have to connect to a real world object, get together.
